This toolkit is for practitioners who are involved in, or are considering creating, a pre-court diversion scheme for adults in contact with the criminal justice system, and offers evidence-led practical advice, based on lessons learnt from existing schemes.

Parallel Lives

Parallel Lives, delivered by Media Academy Cymru (MAC) and funded by the Violence Protection Unit, offers a 7-week intervention to families who have experienced Adolescent to Parent Violence/Abuse (APVA) in Swansea and Cardiff. It provides a therapeutic environment to parents/carers and the young person.

LEPH Link

LEPH Link was first trialled by West Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Police in December 2020 and launched in June 2021. Devon and Cornwall Police subsequently recognised the potential benefits of LEPH Link to provide officers with a reliable source of real-time information about available services and to deploy best practice interventions at scale across the workforce. They are currently conducting a pilot Plymouth and aiming for a force-wide roll-out in 2023.

Pathfinder Enhanced Deferred Prosecution Scheme

Pathfinder's enhanced service takes a person-centred, strength-based approach, which focusses on neurodiversity, mental health, substance misuse and relationships. The service makes use of innovative resources such as a neurodiversity profiling tool, an app to encourage positive engagement and personalised budgets.

Understanding and filling the gap in advice and support services for people with low level criminal justice system involvement

This report seeks to inform the development of appropriate advice and support services through qualitative research with people in low level contact with the justice system who have sought help for social welfare needs.

CFO Activity Hubs

We spoke to Joanne Wood (Head of Service, CFO Activity Hubs) from Interventions Alliance (part of the Seetec group) about this service which aims to provide a comprehensive framework of support to encourage desistance, help participants overcome barriers into work and reintegrate into their local communities.

Flourish

Funded by Lambeth Council, Flourish began operating in May 2021 and is based within Children’s Social Care. It offers a range of short-term interventions, as well as an 18-month structured programme. 

About the team

The team comprises two Lead Practitioners and one dedicated Team Manager who have all been systematically trained to work with individuals with complex needs. The advisory board, chaired by the Assistant Director of Children’s Social Care, consists of key internal and external partners.
