RESEARCH AND POLICY
The Centre works to advance the use of evidence-led reform by capturing and spreading lessons across the justice system. We seek to highlight promising new research and practice and work with policy makers to identify and overcome the barriers to change experienced by practitioners. We strive to learn lessons from around globe, with especially strong links to research and practice in the USA through our unique relationship with the Center for Court Innovation.
Through our practice development team we work directly with practitioners to help design, set up and test new approaches to particular problems or ideas. We give intensive support to small numbers of individuals and partnerships to assess their specific needs, plan appropriate responses and put these in to practice. Our approach to practice development is underpinned by two core principles. First, that implementing new approaches is most effective when developed with the full involvement of, and insight from, those experiencing and operating them. Second, that proactive learning and sharing is key to improving our knowledge of what works and why.
